There has been a little miscommunication regarding ticket sales. Our original press release did state that tickets would go on sale March 1. However, we did put tickets on sale earlier than that date (obviously), and as of today we are SOLD OUT. As we are at the legal capacity of the space, no further tickets will be available, either through pre-sale or on the day of the event. We are sorry if this has inconvenienced anyone.
Also, for those attending the Camp, at previous events we have allowed eaters to take home doggy bags of cupcakes, but that will not be permitted this time around. Many people at the last event did not have a chance to sample many cupcakes, as people were leaving the building with several cupcakes each. All cupcakes at this event must be consumed at the event. So we ask eaters to remember that often your eyes are bigger than your stomach, and to please take only the cupcakes you think you can finish at the event.
Baker registration has closed. You are welcome to send an e-mail to Kiesha Jenkins-Duffy to be put on ‘cancellation notice’ and be informed when/if a current baker drops out. However, we did go over our target number of cupcakes this time around by five, so we would have to have several bakers drop out before we could accommodate any new bakers.
We want to give our sincere thanks to all our bakers and eaters for filling this CupcakeCampColumbus up so quickly! It’s amazing and we’re going to be thrilled to give all our proceeds to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank!
Hope you got in because tickets are now sold out!
Thanks so much to all the wonderful bakers who have registered! We have shut down registration as we have reached capacity on cupcakes. Those of you attending will get to sample 45 different kinds of cupcakes created by 34 different bakers!
Tickets to CupcakeCampColumbus 3 are now on sale! You can pick yours up in person at Surly Girl Saloon or order them online from the North Market by clicking here!
The tickets are just $10 apiece and give you the opportunity to eat up to 40 different kinds of cupcakes! While you’re diving deeper and deeper into a sugar coma, you can also feel great knowing that all the proceeds from the event will benefit the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
Our first event at the Surly Girl Saloon was limited to 40 tickets, which sold out quickly. Our second event at the North Market went up to 100 tickets, which also sold out fast! We’re staying at 100 tickets this time around (and some have already been sold), so get your tickets quickly!
Registration is now open for CupcakeCampColumbus 3! One noticeable difference this year is that we are accepting only EIGHT cupcakes per category. So if there’s one you’ve really got your eye on, get registered early!
CupcakeCampColumbus will return to the North Market on Sunday, March 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Dispatch Kitchen and “this time it’s frostable.” Organizers Carmen Owens of Surly Girl Saloon, Kiesha Jenkins-Duffy of the blog 52 Weeks of Baking and the North Market’s Mary Martineau are offering a festive Saint Patrick’s Day and spring-themed celebration of cupcakes.
Approximately forty different flavors of cupcakes created strictly by local amateur bakers will be featured. This round’s classifications include:
Best St. Patrick’s Day Cupcake: It’s just three days before “the wearing of the green” and your cupcake should pay tribute to this fanciful day of Irish frivolity. Give us green icing, shamrocks or leprechauns, but leave the orange at home!
Best Use of Bailey’s Irish Cream or Bushmills Irish Whiskey: We’re guilty of another Irish-themed category here, but for this one we want you to incorporate some fine Irish libations. You can choose to include Bailey’s Irish Cream or Bushmills Irish Whiskey into your recipe or, heck, go hog-wild and use both!
Best North Market-Inspired: The North Market features a little of everything and so should these cupcakes. Cupcakes inspired by Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream flavors were popular in the last round. How about using one of our ethnic eateries for inspiration? With Thai, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Belgian, Indian, Italian and even Polish cuisine on market there’s a world of inspiration here!
Best Spring-themed: The crocuses will bear their delicate little heads any day now and we’re sure the brilliant gold forsythia will bloom shortly. In the meantime, bake up a batch of cupcakes that reflect the rebirth of our greenery from the cold winter.
Best Vegan: No animal products permitted. Bring us the tastiest cupcake you can create without using milk, eggs, butter or any other animal product.
Local celebrities, bakers and other experts will be on hand to judge each category and fabulous prizes will be awarded to the winners. Applications for cupcake bakers and are now available and each category is limited to eight entries. To register to be a cupcake baker visit the CupcakeCampColumbus website. If you’re not a baker, but you are an avid cupcake eater and you would like to attend, tickets are $10 with the proceeds benefiting the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Ticket will be available beginning March 1 and can be purchased in person at Surly Girl Saloon or online from the North Market.
Tickets are limited and the event has sold out each time so get yours early!
Finally, if you’re all about quantity over quality, perhaps you’d like to enter the Cupcake Crush. In this contest the first intrepid eater to finish a set amount of mini cupcakes provided by the Surly Girl Saloon will take home a special award. Registration for the Cupcake Crush will take place on the day of the event.
